ATLAS DSM MK III

Construction

The cabinet of the ATLAS DSM MK III consists of an upright column and a top-mounted woofer chamber. The two cabinets are linked through a square opening (connecting board 1). To ensure maximum stability, we recommend that the two parts of the cabinet be screwed and glued together.
The enclosed mid-bass chamber is divided off from the main column. The dome speakers are also mounted in this cabinet, which is also reinforced with a narrow lath. The large construction is stabilised by a reinforcing cross in the lower half.
The inner driver is mounted horizontally with its magnet facing up on the inner panel (opening 230 mm ø). The two round openings in the rear panel are for the bass tubes, the square opening is for the terminals. You will need to drill three 8-mm holes in the rear panel of the medium range chamber and two in the panel for the inner driver for the wiring.
The two circuit boards of the crossover unit are mounted in the upper part of the cabinet on the side or rear panel. Assembling the TIW 250 is easier if the upper part is attached at the end. It is recommended that you position the inner driver on its board and pilot-drill the holes for the screws before assembling the cabinet.

The subwoofer volume level can be trimmed by inserting a 10 ohm resistance (at least 10 W) in the lead to the TIW 250. This is particularly beneficial if the low-range bass turns out to be too powerful due to resonance in the room.
Since the ATLAS DSM MK III offers the possibility to trim the low-range bass by lowering the level of the inner driver, the speakers can be positioned relatively close to the wall. Minimum distance from wall: 30 cm.

Inner damping

The hollow space above the reinforcing cross-piece is filled with 12 mats of damping material. Two mats are placed in the upper part, and the two sheep's wool mats are for the medium range cabinet.
